UFC star Rory MacDonald to throw first pitch at Blue Jays game

"We’ll find out Tuesday"

We all know Rory MacDonald can throw a punch, but how well can the UFC star throw a baseball?

We’ll find out Tuesday when the Canadian welterweight tosses out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays game against the New York Yankees at Rogers Centre.

“I’m excited,” MacDonald told Sportsnet. “I played for a year when I was a kid so I’m not nervous.”

  1. MacDonald will likely be throwing the ball to an old friend. MacDonald and Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin have known one another for several years and became friends while doing strength and conditioning training together with Jonathan Chaimberg at the Adrenaline Performance Center in Quebec.

The 26-year-old is in the city to promote his upcoming fight with Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. The top two 170-pound contenders are set to headline the UFC’s debut event in Ottawa on June 18.
