How did you get started in fitness and training?
I started ballet training at a very young age and attended The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and The National Ballet School of Canada into my teenage hood. When I turned 19 years old I transitioned into bodybuilding. Dedication and perseverance has led me to great success in Canadian bodybuilding in the Bikini Division, snagging two first place finishes, and placing among the best Bikini Athletes in Canada.
What are your future goals, dreams and plans?
Through a lifetime of avid athleticism and the resolution of my own health challenges has created a driving passion to educate and support others on a journey to achieving vibrant health.
A quick overview on how your workout training looks like?
Generally I do a 5 day split. This is an advanced lifting routine essentially allowing each body part its own training day. This enables me to increase volume and intensity to maximum levels.
What is your favorite and least favorite body part to work out on?
I love a mean shoulder workout!
Do you have any gym, muscle building or fitness pet peeves?
DOMS- Delayed onset muscle soreness. Although, part of me also enjoys the pain of results!
What are your best tips for working out in the gym?
Focus diligently on the contraction of the specific muscles that you are targeting. This will strengthen your neuromuscular connection. The neuromuscular junction is the point where an electrical impulse from the nervous system (your brain) is transferred to the muscle. These impulses signal the muscle fibers to fire. The more you improve this communication with attention and intention, the more muscle fibers you will recruit yielding improved endurance, contractions and results.
How do you eat and what’s usually in your fridge?
I used to follow a conventional bodybuilding lifestyle, until I experienced a health crash. I now follow a plant based lifestyle that incorporates large amounts of raw nutrient dense living foods such as an abundance of fruit, huge rainbow salads, complex carbohydrates such as root vegetables, brown rice, quinoa, and legumes, organic hemp protein powder, and raw nuts and seeds. I also drink Antioxidant rich, restructured, ionized water in a large abundance, 4 litres per day. Before I discovered this healing water, I had no idea that water could be a powerfully abundant antioxidant source. These two lifestyle changes have allowed my health to soar to new levels.
What are your favorite cheat meals and foods?
My favourite treats are raw desserts. raw chocolate ganache is heaven on earth!
How do you deal with cravings for junk food, sweets and salty foods?
Generally I allow myself treats when I feel like it. During competition prep I will drink an abundance of exotic herbal teas. That usually distracts me!
What supplements do you take (if any) and recommend to others?
I take Masszymes enzymes and P3OM probiotics. These products contain the highest amount of protein digesting enzymes on the market.
Adding these key elements into ones diet, which improve digestion, makes weight loss and muscle gain a lot easier. Any last advice for beginners or anyone looking to get into fitness?
You have greatness inside of you. You can transform your body, your health, and your mind. All that it takes is a decision. A decision to take the first step. A decision to stop making excuses. A decision to persevere through the challenges no matter what, and to never give up.
