HOW DID YOU GET INTO BEING A MODEL AND PAGEANT CONTESTANT GIRL? I have done pageants for the past four years. It was a desire I had in my heart since I was 11 years old back in Colombia when I saw Vaneza Mendoza win the Miss Colombia pageant, she was the first afro Colombian to win this title! Down in South America pageants are massive, they can be compared to the super bowl. I admire her, she came from a very humble beginning and went on to become a politician and a successful entrepreneur and has done a lot for her community. Back at age 11 I decided to compete in pageants.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT MODEL AND PAGEANT CONTESTANT? Pageants have helped me to grow as a person in every sense of the word. In order to be a good candidate to represent a country you have to really get to know yourself. Pageants have taught me to dig deep, to define my values and to stick to them. I enjoy the whole process. They have taught me discipline, commitment and most importantly I have met some of my best friends while competing!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ANYONE ASPIRING TO BE A MODEL AND PAGEANT CONTESTANT?

Know yourself. In this industry (like in any) knowing yourself and what you stand for is very important because when you stand strong, you won’t let little things get to you. Clarity and purpose will always give you an edge in anything you do.

ARE YOU ON ANY SPECIAL DIET?

Yes I am, my diet is very balanced. I always try to eat healthy.

DO YOU WORK OUT? IF SO, WHAT DOES YOUR REGULAR WORK OUT SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?

At this moment I am training a lot because my goal is to feel/look my best on stage. My daily routine consist of 40 mins cardio, 1 hour of training and yoga to unwind. When I am not competing I train one hour a day. I always take one day off to recover.

FAVORITE ACTOR? Will smith, he has a lot of character and his acting always amazed me. I also love that he believes in doing his best because he understands that with privilege comes responsibility, and in his career he impacts a lot of people thru his acting.

FAVORITE ACTRESS? Angelina Jolie I like her I think she is very eccentric, and I admire how she stands up for causes she deeply believes in.

FAVORITE MOVIE?

My first choice would be “Love in the time of Cholera”, it’s a movie made from a book wrote by the Nobel prize Gabriel Garcia Marquez (a Colombian writer). It’s about the unbreakable bond of love between two people that met when they were very young and ended up being together at the end of their lives. I find the power of love fascinating.

FAVORITE NEWSPAPER/MAGAZINE TO READ?

I love reading F.i.L.E.S. Magazine, I like how they give the opportunity to local talents to have a platform to talk about their passions etc.

FAVORITE PLACE TO DINE?

I LOVE seafood! And one of the best restaurants in town in my opinion is Blue Water Café. I love their sable fish.  I also love vegetarian food and Naam is always the place to go (which is very convenient because it is open 24/7)

FAVORITE PLACE TO SHOP?

I am the kind of person that when I see something I love I buy it, I don’t like to spend a lot of time from shop to shop.

TURN ONS?  I find confidence very attractive. It’s something that draws me in and makes me very interested in getting to know someone. I also love laughing! I think that life is not meant to be serious all the time so having a good light spirit is def a plus.

TURN OFFS?

I don’t like when someone is controlling, when you are confident there is no need to control the situation. You just let others see you as you are.

GOOD LOOKS ARE OBVIOUSLY AN ADVANTAGE BUT IT’S ALSO A NOVELTY THAT CAN EEAR OFF IF A YOUNG WOMAN HAS NO SUBSTANCE TO HER CHARACTER. WHAT KIND OF PERSONALITY TRAITS DO YOU THINK YOURSELF AND YOUNG GIRLS/WOMEN REPRESENT AS A BEAUTIFUL PERSON?

For me it all comes down to knowing yourself and having purpose in life. This is one of the reasons I am very grateful with pageants because they have given me the opportunity to know myself, and define my values. For me the most beautiful human beings are the ones that walk with direction and purpose. I believe we are all here for a purpose and a reason.

WHAT KIND OF A MAN ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

I am not looking for a man, I believe that when the time is right he will come.  Someone with purpose and energy! Someone who is willing to support my dreams because I am willing to support his.

WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY AND HEALTH REGIME AND WHAT’S THE EASIST AND HARDEST TO MAINTAIN?

Live a healthy balanced life is key. It comes from having a good diet, sleeping a minimum 7 hours a day, drinking plenty of water and I love applying Manuka honey at night! Keeps my skin fresh and clear.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO FOR A LIVING AND WHAT DOES THE EXPOSURE OF MODEL AND PAGEANT CONTESTANT MEAN FOR YOU?

I been an entrepreneur and have done philanthropic work since I was 16, and is something I will continue to do. I also have a passion in using my voice for causes I believe in such as BWSS and Operation Smile.  Pageants have helped me meet people that have supported me and what I stand for. With the support of our community and our organizing committee we were able to raise over 20k for children born with facial deformities.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WORLD ISSUE FOR YOU AND WHY?

Girls access to education is something that as a global community we need to work on (two out of three illiterate people are female). Every child in the world should be able to have the access to education. This will have a massive impact in many aspects because when we have a more educated society it will boost our economy, there will be more opportunities and crime will decrease.

WHO DO YOU THINK WOULD WIN IN A RING FIGHT, BRUCE LEE OR MIKE TYSON?

I would say Bruce Lee just because in his prime he was able to do things nobody on the planet could do and he trained in multiple styles of combat.
